What is Autessa

Autessa is a platform for building agentic applications. You define tools (the actions), give them to agents (AI workers that decide when to act), and optionally coordinate agents with multi-agent managers — then back the whole thing with a built-in database, external connectors, hosted apps, and production APIs.

Tools, agents, and multi-agents

The core hierarchy has three levels:

  • Tools are the lowest-level abstraction — like functions in programming. Each tool performs one specific, well-defined action: run an AutessaScript, call an API, query a database, send an email. Tools take typed arguments and produce results.
  • Agents are AI workers that use your tools. An agent interprets a request, plans a sequence of tool calls, and handles the logic dynamically — you write instructions and attach tools; Autessa handles the orchestration. Agents work conversationally (chat, even voice) or offline on schedules and triggers.
  • Multi-agents (managers) orchestrate several agents. A manager decides which agent to delegate each subtask to and synthesizes the results, so complex workflows stay composed of small, testable agents.

Everything is versioned: you iterate in a draft sandbox, publish when it's ready, and roll back instantly if a published version misbehaves. Start with Tools, Agents, and Multi-Agents.

AutessaDB

AutessaDB is the built-in database. Create tables for structured data or knowledge bases optimized for semantic search, and let agents read and write rows like any other data store. Triggers fire automation when rows are created, updated, or deleted — chaining agents and tools directly off your data.

Connectors

Connectors link your workspace to external services — Google Calendar, Gmail, Outlook, QuickBooks, Slack, and more. Once a connector is authorized, tools built on it can act on those services without you touching OAuth or token refresh.

Apps and platform products

Beyond the agentic core, the builder ships full products on top of it:

  • App Builder — hosted React web apps over your agents and data, generated from chat by the vibecode AutoBot and publishable to a public URL.
  • Document Signing — a complete e-signature product: envelopes, templates, audit trails, and sealed PDFs.
  • Meeting Recorder — bots that join your meetings, record, transcribe, and summarize into AutessaDB.
  • Scheduled Jobs — run agents on cron schedules for reports, syncs, and maintenance.

Marketplace

The Marketplace distributes complete solutions as installable bundles — agents, tools, tables, and apps packaged with pinned versions. Install a template to start from something working, or publish your own bundles for others.

AutoBots

AutoBots are AI copilots built into the builder itself: one drafts agents and tools with you, one manages AutessaDB in natural language, one writes AutessaScript, and one — vibecode — writes entire apps. You describe; they build; you review.

APIs

Everything you publish is callable:

  • The Client API executes agents, tools, and AutessaDB from your own applications with resource-scoped API keys — REST and streaming WebSockets.
  • The Poweruser API manages every resource in your company programmatically, authenticated as you.
  • Webhook handlers and OAuth clients round out inbound integration and third-party auth.

Where to go next

Three steps take you from reading to shipping:

  1. Build something — the Quickstart walks you from a fresh account to a published agent you can call over the API.
  2. Understand what you built — Core Concepts pins down the vocabulary: tools, agents, versions, variables, companies, and access.
  3. Wire it into your product — Authentication covers API keys and credentials, then the API Reference takes over.

Ready for something bigger? The Build your first app tutorial assembles a database, an agent, a nightly schedule, and a generated web app into one working product — in about 40 minutes.

Along the way, the tool type catalog shows everything tools can do, and the AutessaScript reference covers custom tool logic.

Prefer a terminal to a browser? The Autessa CLI exposes the same platform as a discoverable command surface, so you can build entirely headless — and everything you create is immediately visible in the builder.
