Agentic Copilot

The Agentic Copilot is the Autobot on your Tools and Agents pages. Describe the workflow you want — "an agent that triages support emails and files them into a table" — and it explores what you already have, designs the missing pieces, and proposes new tools and agents for you to apply.

What it's for

Building an agentic workflow by hand means creating each tool, wiring its arguments, then creating an agent with the right instructions and tool attachments. The copilot compresses that into a conversation: it knows your existing resource catalog, avoids duplicating tools you already have, and produces complete, publishable drafts. Use it to go from idea to first working version; use the regular editors to fine-tune instructions, models, and configuration afterwards.

Open Agentic Workflows → Tools or Agents in the sidebar and click the Autobot button. The copilot opens as a resizable panel on the right. It's also available on individual tool and agent detail pages, where it automatically knows which resource you're looking at — so "add an argument for the customer's region" works without further context.

Each time you open the panel, the conversation starts fresh; closing it discards the chat.

Key concepts

  • Three specialists — while working, the copilot shows which of its specialists is active: Discovery explores your existing resources and the tool catalog, Builder creates and edits resources, and Publisher publishes the results. The pill indicator ("Discovering…", "Building…", "Publishing…") tells you what phase the copilot is in.
  • Tool-call cards — every action the copilot takes (listing tools, fetching agent details, delegating to a specialist) appears as a collapsible card with a status indicator. Expand a card to see the exact arguments and result — useful when you want to verify what the copilot actually looked at.
  • Changes cards — the copilot never creates anything silently. Proposed tools and agents appear in an amber changes proposed card, each expandable to show its type and description, with Apply Changes and Reject Changes buttons. The chat input locks until you decide. On apply, the new resources appear in your lists immediately.
  • Credits — the copilot draws on your company's daily and weekly AI credit allowances; a banner appears if a limit is reached.

When to use it vs. building manually

Reach for the copilot when you're starting something new or when the shape of the workflow is clearer in words than in configuration — it excels at scaffolding several coordinated resources at once. Build manually (or switch to the editors after applying) when you need precise control: exact tool configuration values, careful instruction wording, model and voice selection, or edits to resources with production traffic.

How to build a workflow with the copilot

  1. On the Tools or Agents page, click Autobot.
  2. Describe the outcome, not the implementation: what the agent should accomplish, what systems it touches, and what data it reads or writes.
  3. Watch the specialist indicator and tool-call cards as it explores your catalog — answer any clarifying questions it asks.
  4. When the changes card appears, expand each proposed tool and agent and check the descriptions and types.
  5. Click Apply Changes (or Reject Changes and refine your prompt).
  6. Open the created resources in their editors to review instructions and configuration, then test the agent with the Streaming Test Window.

Tips for good prompts

  • State the goal and the constraints — "summarize new rows in the Leads table and email the sales channel every morning" beats "make a sales agent".
  • Name the resources you want reused — mention existing tables, tools, or connectors by name so Discovery links to them instead of creating duplicates.
  • One workflow per conversation — the copilot handles multi-resource builds well, but unrelated asks in one thread muddy the plan.
  • Iterate before applying — you can ask it to adjust the proposal ("make the tool take a date range argument") while the changes card is pending; reject and re-prompt if the design is off.
