Billing

The Billing page is a single portal for everything money-related: your plan, spending caps and alerts, payment methods, and invoices — including a live preview of what the current month will cost.

What it's for

Autessa bills for AI-task usage. The billing portal shows where this month stands (tasks so far, estimated month-end invoice, credit balance, your per-task rate) and lets you manage the levers around it: switch between pay-as-you-go and a monthly commitment, set hard caps and email alerts, add cards or bank accounts, and view or pay invoices.

From the builder sidebar, open the Company section and click Billing. Access requires the billing permission, and the page may not appear for every company depending on rollout. Sections on the page are anchor-linked: plan and credit, budget and alerts, payment methods, AI tasks, and invoices.

Key concepts

  • Plan & credit — you either pay per task or commit to a monthly amount (charged on the 1st) in exchange for a lower locked-in per-task rate. The commitment is a slider, not a set of named tiers; a credit-activity ledger records top-ups, task spend, promotional credits, and adjustments. Enterprise companies may instead have a custom rate or a task grant.
  • Budget & alerts — optional hard caps (Max AI tasks per month and Max monthly spend) block new AI tasks when reached until the next month. Separately, email alerts warn at 50/80/90/100% of your cap without blocking anything; you can add up to five extra alert recipients, and the owner is always emailed.
  • Payment methods — add a card or link a bank account through an embedded Stripe form (Autessa never stores your card details). A billing address is required for sales tax. Top-ups and monthly invoices charge your default method.
  • Invoices — the invoices table lists each period with type (invoice or commitment receipt), billable tasks, total, due date, and status (paid, pending, or payment failed). A live Preview card shows the current period as it accrues. View opens a hosted invoice page; Pay now appears on payable invoices.
  • Hosted invoice pages — every invoice email links to a tokenized public invoice page that anyone with the link can open, download as PDF, and pay — with a saved card or as a guest — without signing in. Links expire.
  • AI tasks — the portal links to the full AI Tasks log, and each task opens a cost receipt itemizing base, voice, semantic search, and evaluation charges, plus whether credit or the free sandbox covered it.
Billing has no public API. Everything is managed through this portal; the only unauthenticated surface is the tokenized hosted invoice page from your billing emails.

How to add a payment method

  1. Open Company → Billing and scroll to Payment methods.
  2. Click Add card (or Link bank where available).
  3. Enter your billing address, then the card or bank details in the embedded Stripe form.
  4. The new method appears in the list — use Make default to route future charges to it.

How to pay an invoice

  1. In the Invoices section, find the row with a Pending or Payment failed status.
  2. Click Pay now to charge your default payment method, or View to open the hosted invoice page and pay there — the hosted page also accepts a guest card and offers a PDF download.
