Buying Apps
Some Marketplace apps have a price. You buy them once or subscribe monthly, pay the app's author through Autessa Payments, and then install them like any other app. This page covers who can buy, how checkout works, and what happens when a subscription ends.
What it's for
Paid apps let builders, agencies, and partners charge for the work that went into an app — and keep improving it. When you buy one, your company gets the right to install it and to apply the author's updates for as long as the license is active.
Navigating here
Paid apps show their price on the catalog card and the detail page: $X one-time or $X/mo. Open Marketplace → Browse catalog, find the app, and open its detail page. Everything your company has bought lives in Marketplace → My apps.
Key concepts
- One-time or monthly. A one-time app is paid once and is yours to keep using. A monthly app is a subscription that renews every month until you cancel it.
- Who can buy. The company owner, or a member with the Billing permission (the built-in Admin and Accountant roles include it). See Team.
- Who can install. The company owner or an Admin. Someone with Billing access can buy an app and an admin can install it afterwards.
- Billed by the app's author. Checkout runs on Autessa Payments. The charge comes from the author's business, not from Autessa. Receipts and billing emails come from the author's business. Sales tax may be added depending on where the author collects it.
- One purchase per company. Once your company has an active license for an app, you can't buy it again. Anyone in the company with install rights can install it.
- License status. My apps shows each paid app's status: Active, Payment overdue (a charge failed and is being retried — the app keeps working), or License expired (the app is paused until it's paid again).
How to buy an app
- Open the app's detail page. The main button reads Buy for a one-time app or Subscribe for a monthly one.
- Click it. A summary shows the price, whether it's one-time or monthly, and Billed by <Author> through Autessa Payments.
- Continue to the secure checkout page and pay.
- You come back to Autessa when payment finishes. The install wizard opens automatically. If you're not an admin, ask your company owner or an Admin to open the app and click Install.
The price you see at checkout is the price you keep paying. If the author changes the price later, it only applies to new buyers.
How to manage or cancel a subscription
- Open Marketplace → My apps and find the app.
- Click Manage subscription. Your billing page opens.
- There you can update the card, download invoices, or Cancel. Canceling keeps the app working until the end of the month you've paid for; after that, it pauses. You can resume before then.
What happens when a subscription ends or a payment fails
- A charge fails. The app keeps working while the payment is retried — 1, 3, and 7 days later. Your billing contact gets an email with a link to pay or update the card, and My apps shows Payment overdue. Paying the invoice or updating the card fixes it.
- Every retry fails, or the subscription is canceled and the paid month runs out. The app pauses. Its tools, agents, scheduled jobs, and apps stop running, and anyone who uses them sees a plain message that the app is paused because its license ended. Company admins opening a paused hosted app see License expired with a Renew button; everyone else sees that the app is unavailable.
- Nothing is deleted. The app's resources, settings, and data all stay in your company exactly as they were.
- Renew to pick up where you left off. Open Marketplace → My apps and click Renew on the app. You pay the outstanding invoice, or start a new subscription if the old one has ended. As soon as payment goes through, everything runs again.
Re-publishing an app you bought
Resources you installed from a paid app, or from a partner's app, belong to that app's author. You can use and edit them, but you can't export them into a bundle or publish them to the Marketplace yourself. Trying to shows This came from <app>; only its author can publish it.
